Approximately how much storage space does the output from a single lane of an Illumina RNA-seq run require (with or without the image files)?

It depends on the number of cycles performed and on how many reads you get, but as example a recent dataset I had was for 36 cycles giving ~22M reads. The files are about 650Mb gzip compressed.

Image files are enormous and you're looking at 1Tb+ files per run.
